The Disneyland cast member who was accused of causing a dry ice explosion in Mickey’s Toontown has plead not guilty to these charges. The employee plead not guilty to felony possession of a destructive device in a public place. The incident happened on Tuesday, May 28 when two water bottles with dry ice exploded in the theme park, authorities reported.

Christian Isaiah Barnes of Long Beach, California, was arraigned two days later, and his bail was set at $500,000, according to Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney’s office. Emami also said that his next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for June 7th. The charge Barnes has been accused of carry a maximum prison sentence of six years, the district attorney’s office reported.

Barnes is an employee at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The prosecutor’s office said Barnes allegedly possessed two water bottles containing dry ice — which can make for a destructive device called a dry ice bomb. These devices caused small explosions in Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland.

Prosecutors have said that on Tuesday, May 28th, Barnes was being relieved of his shift at a Disneyland vending cart when he opened the vending cart and the first water bottle with dry ice exploded. Then Barnes allegedly took the second water bottle from the cart and  placed it in a trash can as he walked to the employee break room, prosecutors said.

Authorities continued by stating that a custodian then removed the trash bag and placed it on the ground when the water bottle in the bag exploded. Visitors were removed from Toontown for approximately two hours while authorities investigated, though the rest of the theme park remained open.
