Disneyland Attraction Lineup over the next few years

The theme parks at the Disneyland Resort have been closed since March but construction has resumed on new and upcoming attractions in the parks. There are three major new attractions that will be opened in the next three years. These attractions are linked to Spider-Man, Tiana, and Mickey Mouse.

Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Mickey’s ToonTown, and a “Princess and the Frog” makeover for Splash Mountain in Disneyland have all been announced as coming attractions.

Avengers Campus, the new land in Disney California Adventure park, was originally set to open this summer. Due to the COVID-19 closures, that opening has been delayed. This new Marvel-themed land will feature a Spider-Man dark ride and will most likely open sometime next year. The Spider-Man ride will feature the “Web Slinger” vehicle, which allows you to sling webs just like Spider-Man! The attraction gives you a taste of what it’s like to have actual superpowers as you help Spider-Man collect Spider-Bots that have run amok.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is coming to Mickey’s ToonTown in Disneyland. This attraction is identical to the ride of the same name in Disney’s Hollywood Studios which opened just before the COVID-19 shutdown. The Disneyland version was slated to open in 2022 but work on the project has been delayed due to the closures. Disney recently announced that the ride will now open in 2023.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts! Once you step into the cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, you’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. Then, one magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.

Disney also announced this summer that Splash Mountain in both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom parks will be rethemed to “The Princess and the Frog.” Disneyland has said that the original Splash Mountain will remain after the park reopens so guests can give it a proper farewell.

Disney has not announced when exactly the makeover of the ride will begin. Setting it to debut in 2022 would make sense for a number of reasons. The parks may not open again until 2021 and retheming an attraction takes time. It would also make sense financially to open the new Tiana Splash Mountain in 2022, as retheming a ride is not as expensive as building a completely new attraction.

The rethemed Splash Mountain will pick up Tiana’s story after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.

We can’t wait to see these new attractions come to life at the Disneyland Resort! Which one are you most looking forward to?
