Anaheim Water Failure Hits Disneyland and Angel Stadium
Visiting a Disney theme park usually guarantees top-tier magic, but guests at Disneyland Resort ran into a situation no park ticket or Lightning Lane could fix. A sudden, widespread municipal water pressure drop hit the central area of Anaheim, forcing temporary closures of restrooms, food locations, and bars across the resort as well as nearby venues like Angel Stadium.
The issue—which stemmed from city-wide infrastructure rather than a resort pipe failure—left Cast Members managing a chaotic situation during the busy summer evening.

According to the City of Anaheim, municipal crews began experiencing technical issues drawing water from the city’s central groundwater wells around 6:00 p.m. The sudden pump failure led to a steep drop in water pressure across multiple central neighborhoods, directly impacting local businesses, hotels, Angel Stadium, and the entire Disneyland Resort complex.
To offset the well issue and restore pressure to affected areas, city water crews quickly transitioned to drawing supplementary water from the Colorado River.
Safety Note: City officials confirmed that the pump issues did not impact emergency fire hydrants or fire response capabilities, and there were no concerns regarding water quality or safety during the incident.

Because modern theme parks, dining kitchens, and handwashing stations rely heavily on continuous municipal water pressure, the impact was felt rapidly across the resort:
- Restroom Closures: Cast Members were stationed outside restrooms throughout Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney to block entrances until water pressure was restored.Inside the Magic
- Dining Suspensions: Table-service restaurants and counter-service locations had to pause seating and food service because kitchens lacked running water for prep and sanitation.Inside the Magic
- Angel Stadium Impact: Major sports and event venues in central Anaheim experienced similar disruptions to their plumbing facilities during the same window.
Despite the temporary disruption, visitors praised Cast Members for remaining helpful and managing crowds as smoothly as possible given the unexpected circumstances.
Fortunately, the city’s pivot to backup water sources allowed pressure levels to steadily recover within two hours. By 8:00 p.m., water pressure returned to normal levels across the resort, enabling Cast Members to reopen restrooms, resume dining service, and bring park operations back to full speed.
Operations at Disneyland Resort have fully resumed, so guests heading to the parks this week can expect normal resort and dining operations!
