This means it now joins Typhoon Lagoon, which had reopened on that same May 1 date, ensuring both of Walt Disney World’s water parks are now simultaneously open for guests to enjoy throughout the summer. This dual operation marks the first time since 2019 that both aquatic destinations have been available concurrently, offering double the fun for those looking to cool off in the Florida heat.
For several years leading up to 2019, Walt Disney World’s water parks typically operated in tandem for the majority of the year, with brief, staggered closures for routine winter refurbishments. However, since 2019, a different operational model has been in place. The water parks have largely alternated their opening periods, with one park welcoming guests while the other underwent refurbishment, essentially sharing the year.
This shift meant that until now, guests utilizing perks like the complimentary check-in day water park admission for resort guests had no choice in which park to visit—it was simply whichever one happened to be open.
