Breaking Ground: Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Expands with 120,000 Square Feet of New Event Space
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin has officially started its next chapter with a groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art 120,000-square-foot event space. Representatives from Tishman Realty, MetLife, Marriott International, and Walt Disney World were on hand to mark the milestone for this ambitious project, which will redefine the resort’s already impressive convention and meeting facilities.

This expansion is the first major addition to the Dolphin’s meeting space since 2003 and introduces a two-story annex inspired by the original Michael Graves design that has long defined the property. The new space will blend natural light, water-themed aesthetics, and warm wooden accents to create a modern, inviting atmosphere.
Once complete, the expansion will bring the resort’s total meeting space to a staggering 469,000 square feet across the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Paired with its 2,619 guest rooms, the property solidifies its position as one of the largest and most versatile convention destinations on the East Coast.
Part of a $275 million investment, the project also includes upgrades to the existing meeting spaces in the Swan and Dolphin and a full renovation of the Swan’s guest rooms. The new convention space is scheduled to open in 2026, further enhancing the resort’s appeal for meetings, conferences, and large-scale events.
