Guests visiting Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World were surprised last night when fireworks went off behind Cinderella Castle. This is the first time we’ve seen fireworks since the park reopened!
Now, these weren’t the regular full-fledged Disney fireworks we are used to. The pyrotechnics were still a welcome sight! These were low-level pyrotechnics being set off every 15 minutes or so when the castle projections changed. Take a look at the video below:
We know fireworks were being tested at Magic Kingdom recently after hours, but this came as a complete surprise to guests.

We’ve also found out that these small fireworks will be a nightly occurrence. Reporter Scott Gustin shared on Twitter that the “pyrotechnic pixie-dust moments” are “occasional bursts of merriment” that will occur nightly through December 30 as part of the holiday projections on Cinderella Castle.
Were you in Magic Kingdom when these fireworks went off? What did you think?
