Heads Up, Mouseketeers! These Walt Disney World Rides Are Clocking Out for May 2025
Every Disney fan knows that even in The Most Magical Place on Earth, sometimes the magic needs a little…maintenance. Whether it’s a major reimagining or just a fresh coat of pixie dust, a few beloved attractions are taking a break this May. So before you lace up those sneakers and head to the parks, here’s your heads-up on what won’t be operating—and what’s closing for good.
Let’s take a land-by-land tour of what’s currently under wraps!

Magic Kingdom: The Mountains (and Presidents) Are Sleeping
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
The wildest ride in the wilderness has been closed since January and won’t be rattling your bones again until sometime in 2026. Disney has teased some “extra magic” on the way—so hang onto your hats and glasses just a little longer. - Hall of Presidents
This Liberty Square staple closed on January 20th and is currently scheduled to return “later in 2025.” We’re sure the Imagineers are brushing up every wig, spotlight, and stirring speech for the big return. - Astro Orbiter
This Tomorrowland spinner is grounded for now, but expect liftoff again sometime this summer. In the meantime, Space Mountain will gladly handle all your intergalactic thrills.
EPCOT: Test Track’s Turbo Transformation

- Test Track
The iconic thrill ride is still in pit lane, but not for long. The “Test Track 3.0” reimagining is revving up for a late summer 2025 debut. Expect smoother style, sleeker tech, and a fresh new vibe inspired by World of Motion nostalgia.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Curtain Call for Some Favorites

- Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
Mangia while you can! This classic table-service spot is closing for good on May 10th, making room for a brand-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. We hope Mike and Sulley like spaghetti. - Muppet*Vision 3D
It’s not closed yet, but heads up—this will be your last full month to enjoy the hilarious antics of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Sam Eagle before its final curtain call on June 7th. Grab your 3D glasses and savor the Muppet mayhem while you still can. - Coming Soon: Two New Shows on May 27th!
Not a closure, but worth shouting from the rooftops: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After both make their grand debuts at the end of May. Hollywood Studios is heating up!

- It’s Tough to Be a Bug
This one already crawled off-stage in March to make way for a new Zootopia-themed show. No additional closures are planned for May, so you can still enjoy your safari, mountain trek, and dino escape as usual!
Whether you’re planning your next park day down to the minute or just want to avoid heartbreak at the gates, now you know which attractions are catching some Zzz’s. But don’t worry—there’s still plenty of magic, memories, and Mickey-shaped snacks waiting for you this May.
