In two short days, my extended family will be making the trek to Disney World — nine of us in all! We have been planning this vacation since September of last year, and now, with our vacation so close, I can’t stand the waiting! As the primary planner for the vacation, it was my goal to make sure that everyone’s wishes were heard, and accommodated as best as I could. We’ve got three first time Disney World visitors, some veterans in myself, my wife, and my daughter, my niece and her boyfriend, and even a Grandma coming along, so it was really important to me that we thought of everyone’s needs and handled them accordingly.
It is important for everyone to remember that, while Sophie and Anna Jane are the youngest, and this vacation is certainly planned with them in mind, that all of the people in our party are on vacation, and that if someone wants to do something, they are more than welcome to do so. If Axl and Stephanie want to go and spend the day together at Hollywood Studios, then they are welcome to do so. If Cindy and I want to ride Space Mountain, and Sophie doesn’t, then she can wait with one of the adults. The biggest key to having fun on vacation, no matter where you are, is to remember that we are all on vacation, and that all of our wishes need to be granted during the trip.
Have fun on your Disney World trip, and remember, it’s everyone’s vacation, even Mom and Dad’s, so kids, think of them when you are on vacation, and ask them what ride they want to ride next a time or two. It will likely surprise them, but please them as well to know that you are being so considerate!
