Disney World Makes $150,000 Donation to Local Orlando Schools

We can’t do enough to appreciate the wonderful teachers who have shaped us and our children. But Disney is going to try! In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Disney is donating $150,000 to help fund teacher enrichment programs in Orange County Public Schools and the School District of Osceola County. This will also go to support outreach programs at A Gift for Teaching, an organization dedicated to providing educational resources. Each group is to receive $50,000 to benefit local teachers in Orange and Osceola counties.

Digital Media Teacher at Osceola County School for the Arts, Alvin Olivo expressed his gratitude by saying “I appreciate Disney being so close to our community and seeing the need that teachers have. As an educator, this is going to help me become more effective in the classroom and help my students achieve more.” (Disney) It is worth noting that Disney is also hosting 50 teachers from across the country at the Disney Imagination Campus later this month.

Director of External Affairs at Walt Disney World Resort, Tajiana Ancora-Brown had this to say about Disney’s love of teachers: “Through Disney Aspire and other programs here at Disney, we see the profound impact teachers have on our cast members firsthand. While Teacher Appreciation Week may be coming to an end, Disney is committed to investing in teachers, students, and our local schools year-round.” (Disney)
