Walt Disney World has been in ongoing wage increase negotiations with six unions that represent most of their Cast Members. Now, several Cast Members have come together to show their strength in numbers at a rally being held tomorrow, Thursday, October 19.
While thousands of Cast Members work at Walt Disney World in Orlando, many of them are unable to find affordable housing in the area. Several have even been forced to live in low-rent motels behind Disney property or borrow money from friends and family just to get by.
Organizers of the rally state on the event’s Facebook page , “Disney workers need a raise! All Six Disney Unions representing 38,000 workers have come together to fight for an aggressive wage proposal. Many Cast Members need these raises, and every Cast Member deserves them but they won’t be handed to us. We need to fight and show Disney our strength! Join our fight for better wages at the Rally for a Raise on Oct 19th and if you’re a Cast Member sign up for negotiation updates by texting DisneyRaise to 877-877.”
The rally is scheduled to take place at 5 pm EST 5 pm in front of the Crossroads entrance to Disney at State Road 535 and Hotel Plaza Boulevard.
