Walt Disney Pictures has begun work on a very cool sounding time travel film titled ‘Time Zones’, written by Marc Guggenheim, who is also doing an untitled detective movie that we reported on last week. Guggenheim was the writer of this summers ‘Green Lantern’, and has done quite a bit of television work including ‘Flash Forward’ and ‘Criminal Minds’.
Imagine a world where every time zone you entered was a different era. New York could be the gangster filled 1930’s, but you could be California and it would be the future in 2230. This is the backdrop of the world that ‘Time Zones’ takes place in. According the Hollywood reporter, the story will center around a man who figures out that since he can now move through time simply by traveling around the world, he can go back into the past and save his life’s wife. The mission reunites him with his estranged daughter. What makes this concept interesting to me, is that if the world’s time zones are where the time travel takes place, then could this movie possible feature a chase through time to save her? It’s such a unique take on time travel, which is one of my favorite movie subgenres in film, so this is a movie that has quickly moved onto my radar. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. What do you guys think, are you excited about this? Or would you rather see something else? Sound off in the comments below!
