Who knew that there are so many different ways to enjoy Disney on your vacations? We loved getting to find out more at the Disney Vacations media event today!
First, let’s talk about the food! The Crispy Roasted Duck Breast with Marquette Potatoes (from Disney Cruise Line) was definitely one of my favorite dishes of the day! The duck was roasted to perfection with crispy skin and juicy meat while the Pomegranate Jus added just the right hint of acidity to this delightfully decadent dish.
Another favorite was the Acai Bowl; an amazing assortment of fresh fruits served over granola with an acai berry sauce, accented with a light snow of dried coconut. Yum!
There was even a Macaroon filling station, featuring the cutest light pink macaroons! They matched the new millennial pink magicband so well too!
Traveling with food allergies? Never fear, Disney has you covered there too! There was a delightful smattering of allergy-friendly treats, including options for gluten-free, peanut allergies, egg-free, dairy-free, vegan, and even more. I got to chat with one of the chefs (Chef Melissa) about how she approaches the challenges of making allergy-friendly desserts, and I can emphatically say that she does so with the utmost love and magic.
For beverages, there was hot coffee and tea, complete with milk, and a variety of syrups to customize your hot beverage to your liking. There was also a white sangria, Black Cherry Mule, merlot, pinot gris, and champagne for a well-rounded assortment of beverage options. I selected the champagne, which was a nice topper to the various dishes of the day.
After tasting some of the amazing dishes, we continued our amazing journey into the world of Disney “beyond the theme parks” by exploring some of the festivities that can be found at Aulani, including a beautiful hula performance. I am so excited about the brand new KA WA’A luau with its incredible food, music, and authentic Hawaiian experiences. While at Aulani, you may even meet our favorite way-finder princess, Moana!
If you’re looking for a new resort experience closer to the parks, be sure to check out the stunning new Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The rooms and cabins are absolutely gorgeous! Grownups: be sure to check out the Black Cherry Mule at Geyser Point Bar and Grill while you’re there! Yum yum!
Disney Cruise Line will be introducing three new ships in the future (2021-2023), but did you know that there is more fun coming this spring? As of March 2018, onboard the Disney Magic, guests will be able to experience the all-new Rapunzel’s Royal Table – an interactive dining experience sure to delight both princesses and pub thugs alike! The Vibe lounge for teens and the Cove Café bar for grownups will also receive updates, and we can’t wait to see the finished areas!
One of the most exciting things that I learned today is that Adventures by Disney offers “Disney Short Escape” adventures for those trying to fit in an adventure around their normal schedule! Adventures on the go? Count me in! One of the newest four day, three-night Adventures is the Southern California land tour. This amazing new experience includes private tours of The Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering, VIP experiences at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney’s Disneyland Apartment, a peek into the Disney Archives, and so much more! My inner Disney historian can’t wait to find out more about this adventure!
We also learned some BREAKING NEWS today, as Adventures by Disney announced their brand new Seine River Cruise, where guests will spend two days exploring Paris before traveling down the Seine, sampling dishes such as this incredible French Onion Soup (my favorite soup ever!) and exploring the stops along the way. How amazing! This is one river cruise that I would definitely combine with a couple of days at Disneyland Paris for the ultimate dream getaway.
My absolute favorite part of the day was getting to meet Master Sommelier, George Miliotes, of the highly anticipated Wine Bar George at Disney Springs. George led us through 4 wines inspired by the Adventures by Disney River Cruises, and I couldn’t have been happier with the perfectly selected wines that truly capture the essence and feeling of the river cruise destinations. It was so nice to learn more about these wines (and the stories behind them) from the Master Sommelier himself, and I felt so fortunate to be able to meet him at this event.
We wrapped up the day with a visit from Captain Mickey! Captain Mickey had just popped into port long enough to say hi to his pals, before departing on his next Disney Vacation!
