Disney Vacation Club has just announced that sales for the all-new Riviera Resort are now open exclusively for Disney Vacation Club Member until April 15th, 2019, after which the sales will be open to the general public. This unique accommodation inspired by the enchantment of the European Riviera and imagined by Disney is projected to open on December 16th 2019. Terri Schultz, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Disney Vacation Club describe the Riviera Resort as a “delight for families” due to its “gorgeous architectural details and the wide range of accommodations”, but most of all, “members and guests will simply fall in love with the sights, sounds and flavours of Europe around every corner”. The inspiration of this resort is based upon “Walt and Lillian Disney’s amazing European travels, connecting Disney artistry and storytelling to this region’s renowned art heritage and inspiration”. This deluxe Disney Vacation Club resort is suggested to offer approximately 300 family vacation homes with accommodation options to suit a range of travel party needs. Disney’s Riviera Resort will include deluxe studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, grand villas which will sleep up to 12 guests each, and new, unique accommodation, Tower Studios.
Tower Studios is a new chic, space for two guests, located in the tower section of the resort. Tower Studios will provide an upscale studio experience for guests which maximizes efficiency. Such as the queen-size bed housed in a built-in wall unit that can be pulled down for sleeping but stylishly tucked away to reveal a comfortable lounge space. This elegant lounge area will include a sofa, a quaint writing nook, a beverage centre and microwave, as well as, plentiful storage and a bright, modern bathroom. Both throughout the resort as well as inside the accommodations, guests will experience a variety of art including Disney concept art with European settings, posters of Disney films released in Europe, as well as archival photography of Walt Disney’s travels throughout Europe and the book titles he gathered on his journeys. Likewise, there will be over 40 signature art pieces created specifically for Disney’s Riviera Resort featuring unique Disney character art inspired by the renowned artistic talent and heritage found along the European Riviera.
This new resort styled in the early 20th-century and inspired by Europe and the Mediterranean coastline will feature a palm tree-lined boulevard with a breathtaking façade featuring rand archways, porticos, cascading water features, and towers and terraces. Disney’s Riviera Pools will continue the Southern European theme.
Disney’s Riviera will have two pools; Riviera Pool is the feature pool, transporting guests to the Mediterranean coast with relaxing lounge chairs with colourful parasols, with a winding stone turret slide. There will also be an interactive water play area for young guests called S’il Vous Play, a perfect way to cool down from the hot sun and have fun with a whimsical fountain featuring beloved characters from Disney “Fantasia”. This play area has drawn inspiration from the grand public fountains seen throughout Europe with a patina and limestone-inspired design. The Beau Soleil leisure pool is for guests looking for a more leisurely, semi-private poolside experience. The pool is situated in a grove of tropical palm trees surrounded by a natural, green wall perfect for creating a restful pool experience.
Guests staying at the resort will have a new way to travel to Disney’s Epcot and Hollywood Studio via the Disney Skyline. This method of transport will not only efficiently move guests to their location but will also offer a whole new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort with breathtaking views available only from the sky! Guests staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort will be connected to dedicated stations where they can aboard the Disney Skyline gondola. This mode of transport will be operating later this fall/ autumn. Some of the Skyline cabins will be decorated with beautiful Disney graphics based on beloved Disney films, attractions and characters. Once aboard, guests will enjoy this European-inspired ride through the sky to Epcot International Gateway or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Riviera Resort will also feature many ways for guests to enjoy dining, from signature dining experiences to quick service options within the resort and poolside. Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, perched on the rooftop, will feature authentic dishes infused with French and Italian flavors, with an onstage kitchen featuring a wood burning grill showcasing finely prepared meats and seafood. The culinary team will be handcrafting artisanal pastas tossed with fresh pressed olive oil. A gourmet selection of cheeses from France and Italy will also be featured. This restaurant will also have an impressive collection of wines sourced throughout the South of France and Coastal Italy.
Guests stepping into Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera, will be surrounded by stunning aesthetics based upon modern Italian and French textures, colours and carvings alongside stonework in homage to ancient European villages along the Riviera. The terrace will boast a grand view of the resort’s stunning vistas as well as inviting guests to capture the nighttime spectaculars of nearby Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Alternatively, guests can begin their magical day at Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera for special Disney character dining, with exclusive character experiences, inspired by the Riviera.
For guests wishing for refreshments closer to the pools, the Bar Riva is an open-air pool bar with a seaside décor. Guests will experience a relaxing European coast vibe by the poolside. For guests looking to experience a European café, Le Petit Café, its name is inspired by Disney’s “The Aristocats”, will have the feel of a modern French patisserie offering charming coffees by day and transformed at night into a chic wine bar! Likewise, the Primo Piatto is styled with modern designs but with traditional feels, transporting guests to the Riviera promenade with views of the lawn and swimming pool through large arched windows.
