Disney Stops Production of Films Such as ‘The Little Mermaid‘ Over Coronavirus Concerns. The film industry is taking a hit with the growing concern over the spread of COVID-19, aka coronavirus. To help keep casts and crews healthy, Disney has stopped production on several titles that are currently in production or pre-production.
Here is a list of films and series affected by the production hault:
- The Little Mermaid (Live-Action)
- Shrunk
- Peter Pan & Wendy
- Home Alone Reboot
- The Last Duel
- Nightmare Alley
- Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings (Marvel)
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Marvel/Disney+)
It is currently unknown if other titles such as Indiana Jones 5, Willow series, and other projects under the Disney umbrella, will see a similar fate in the near future.
To help prevent losses and keep audiences from getting sick, Disney has also pushed back the theatrical releases of Mulan, The New Mutants, and Antlers. All three films will be rescheduled for theatrical releases later in 2020. It is currently unknown if titles such as Marvel Studios’ Black Widow and Disney’s Artemis Fowl will be affected by the changes as well.
