Disney Rumored To Be Developing A ‘Moana’ Sequel. Though still unconfirmed by Disney, rumors have been swirling this week that Disney is developing a sequel to the popular 2016 animated featured film, Moana. The idea of a sequel first appeared on WeGotThisCovered.com.
If the rumors do turn out to be true we would LOVE to see Moana and Maui on another whirlwind adventure. The original film follows Moana, an adventurous teenager who sets sail on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.
The cast of Moana has not commented on the recent rumors about ‘Moana 2‘ and are currently busy working on other projects with Disney. Voice of Moana, Auli’i Cravalho, is set to appear as Ariel in The Little Mermaid Live! appearing live on ABC November 5, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Meanwhile, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is set to produce a new document-series called Behind the Attraction for Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.
What are your thoughts on a Moana sequel? Would you want to see Moana and Maui on the big screen again? Do you think Disney should focus on new projects? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
