Had a PERFECT birthday celebration at DW recently (I will spare you ALL the details, but thought this one was worth mentioning). Had lunch reservations in Cinderella’s Castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Now I can remember on a prior trip, walking up to that big wooden double door, and being turned away for lack of reservation (I was a newbie to the dining then – so let that be a lesson to ya, book this one as early as you possibly can!).
This time, I had a reservation. I gave them our name, and entered those big wooden double doors. The cool air hit us as we walked inside, as did the thrill of “being on the inside”. As we stood in line, the attention to detail was amazing. At the very top of castle walls, were the 2 mice who served as Cinderellie’s confidantes throughout the movie. Cinderella herself came out and, midway through the line, everyone had their opportunity to take a picture with her – this is a very nice touch. I even have one of my son where she is giving him a kiss on the cheek – priceless. After climbing a winding staircase, we entered the dining room. It was spectacular!! Everything you would think it to be. When we booked, we told them it was my birthday, so we were seated at, in my humble opinion, the best table in the place, our view overlooked the Carousel. A cast member brought a birthday card to me, and told me to leave it there on the end of the table, and all of the princesses would be around to sign it, which they did. They take special time with everyone at each table taking as many pics as you want.

There are wishing stars on the tables, and each boy gets a sword, each girl gets a wand. Upon an announced instruction, they hold up their wishing stars in one hand and their sword/wand in the other. My son loved that. They close their eyes & make a wish and then lights flicker everywhere inside the castle. My husband had, unbeknownst to me, ordered a Mickey birthday cake for me (great surprise and many brownie points for him). They brought it out, and an announcement came over the loudspeaker for everyone to sing Happy Birthday to me, which the entire dining room did. Yet another priceless moment. They brought us out ice cream to go with our cake, which had a chocolate crown, and mickey-shaped sprinkles on top.

Even though this restaurant costs 2 meals from your dining plan, it is well worth it. For little girls, and for the grown-up ones, too, especially!

Thanks, Disney, for an experience I’ll never forget.
