Disney recently pushed back the ability to make reservations to July 1st which lead us to believe that might be when Walt Disney World will reopen. Today during an Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force meeting Disney World’s Vice President said that is not necessarily the case.
Vice President Thomas Mazloum said, “We have taken reservations for July but that should not mean we are operating in July yet. We’ve opened Shanghai, which has been extremely well. We were very prudent and conservative and things went extremely well but at this point, we have really nothing to report about Walt Disney World yet.”
He went on to say, “We will allow data to guide us as well as the government. Not a specific date.”
When asked about the precautions being taken at Shanghai Disneyland Mazloum responded, “We looked at this as a stair step. We were in awe and very conservative and prudent and very very disciplined and so were our guests. We’re going to see how things go. This is a first step and a baby step but we were very encouraged by what we were seeing in Shanghai.”
