The Haunted Mansion gift shop, Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond, opened in late December 2024 as part of a larger refurbishment of the attraction’s queue and grounds. However, the shop soon faced controversy when discerning fans noticed that a portrait supposedly depicting “The Bride” appeared to be AI-generated art sourced from Redbubble.
This discovery sparked widespread criticism, leading Disney to swiftly remove the artwork from the shop.
The controversial AI-generated portrait has been removed from Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond just weeks after its opening. This leaves a conspicuous gap in the upper wall displays.
Initially, some fans speculated that another portrait might offer a glimpse of the long-rumored new Bride. However, the use of third-party AI art and props from Amazon has eroded trust. It’s unclear whether the remaining portrait is an original Imagineering creation or another third-party purchase, further fueling uncertainty.
While the new Bride may still make her debut when the Haunted Mansion reopens on January 18th, her appearance remains unconfirmed.
Designed to resemble Madame Leota’s former carriage house, the gift shop features a collection of mystical props and eccentric furnishings left behind by the enigmatic medium. Guests can find Haunted Mansion and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” merchandise within.
