It looks like there has been some movement on the long gesturing ‘Doctor Strange’ movie at Marvel. Disney has just recently begun to register domains for many of the properties we know to be on the way, including ‘The Avengers’, ‘Iron Man 3’, and ‘Thor 2’, but in the mix was ‘Doctor Strange’. Writers had been hired over a year ago to work on a draft of the script for Marvel, and it was just turned into a few months ago to the studio. Marvel still has two mystery projects scheduled for 2014, so there is a good chance that ‘Doctor Strange’ could be one of them.
Here’s a little about Doctor Strange from Wikipedia:
Doctor Stephen Strange is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was co-created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963).
Debuting in the Silver Age of comics, the character has featured in several self-titled series and Marvel-endorsed products including arcade and video games; animated television series; a direct-to-DVD film; and merchandise such as trading cards. In 2011 IGN ranked Dr. Strange 38th in their “Top 100 comics heroes”.
Now, this is in no way official that the movie is happening soon, but it’s definitely interesting to see that they’ve already begun to register the movies domain, so it’s safe to assume that there is probably movement on the film. It wasn’t mentioned last week in Marvel’s Entertainment Weekly Article (here), but this is one that’s been worked on for a while in the studio, so it may be their surprise project for 2014.
