It’s time for a celebration! With the Food & Wine Festival just around the corner, that also means runners will be grabbing their gear a few short months after the festival starts for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. This is not your normal race weekend, though. It’s a 10-year anniversary celebration for the half marathon weekend! This year, the weekend takes place on October 31 – November 3, 2019. Today was the announcement that all runners have been waiting for; the unveiling of the finisher medals! The medals are a little different than years past. Countries from around the world are showcased on this year’s finishers medals as we celebrate 10 years!
For the first time, the Fall Feast 5K will take place in Epcot and after you’re done running around the world, you will be draped with the “I Wanna Be Like You” finisher medal adorned with the classic characters from “The Jungle Book”. Wouldn’t all runners agree that those are the “Bare Necessities”? (अगर आप यह सपना देख सकते हैं, तो आप यह कर सकते हैं। वाल्ट डिज्नी)
The Disney Wine & Dine 10K medal features some of our favorite “Frozen” friends, Sven & Olaf. Guaranteed no runner will be frozen at the finish line when receiving this beautiful “icy” finisher medal. (Hvis du kan drømme det kan du gjøre det.-Walt Disney)
The finisher medal for Disney’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon celebrates the 10th anniversary with Patriotic Mickey Mouse serving up an All-American Favorite. After running 13.1 miles around Walt Disney World resort, runners will have earned a slice or two while proudly wearing this amazing celebratory medal. For those lucky participants who complete the Two Course Challenge, which is comprised of both the Disney Wine & Dine 10K and Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, they will have earned this spectacular finisher medal featuring “The Three Caballeros“. After running 19.3 miles, it will definitely be time for a FIESTA! (Si puedes soñarlo puedes hacerlo. – Walt Disney)
The 2019 Kids Races, sponsored by GoGo squeeZ® Applesauce, will earn a fun medallion at the finish line. The smallest runners will absolutely have “no worries” with their friends Timon and Pumbaa from “The Lion King” hanging around their necks showcasing their valiant efforts. After all that running, it’s time to party! Both the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon and Disney Two Course Challenge participants can start their celebration with early entry to the Post-Race Party! Beginning at 5 pm, all participants can enjoy Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival, but the after-party starts at 10 pm with special rare characters and 10th Anniversary entertainment. Challenge and Half Marathon participants are also eligible to purchase tickets for friends and family to bring to the party as well.
Whether you run or walk, all are welcome to participate in this anniversary event. There are still spots available for the 2019 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend by running with one of Disney’s participating charity groups or by registering with a travel provider.
