Walt Disney World has provided a brief update on the upcoming refurbishment of the Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom. Disney confirms that the refurbishment will begin on August 26, 2024, and aims to reopen “before the winter holidays begin.” Disney’s holiday season starts on November 8 this year. Consequently, the Jungle Cruise has also been removed from the list of attractions available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

While no significant show changes are expected during the closure, several permits were recently filed, including one with contractor Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. This indicates that the refurbishment may involve some technical updates and maintenance work. Despite recent updates to the Jungle Cruise’s show scenes, the ride has not undergone a significant refurbishment since 2017.

In addition to the Jungle Cruise closure, it is anticipated that Big Thunder Mountain will also close soon for refurbishment. This could temporarily leave the Magic Kingdom without two of its major high-capacity attractions in September. However, specific dates for the Big Thunder Mountain closure have not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
