Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products shared the news yesterday from the IAPAA Expo that Disney Plans on bringing back the recently canceled shows & entertainment in the future.
Disney has laid off 28,000 people in the theme park division due to COVID-19, including around 25% from Walt Disney World.
Equity performers were among most of those laid off, here is just a small list of those we know about:
- Festival of the Lion King
- Finding Nemo: The Musical
- Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
- Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
- Hollywood Studios Street Performers
- Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
- YeeHa Bob
- and many more

“We’ve heard from many of our guests that they’re looking forward to us bringing back some of the entertainment that we recently had to discontinue. And we plan to do that,” Josh stated.
“Events in the U.S. forced us to look across our entire business with an updated lens and frankly we have some work to do both on stage and backstage. And at Disney, a company steeped in traditions and heritage, change isn’t always easy,” D’Amaro said. “When we say, ‘To all who come to this happy place, welcome,’ that means everyone, both cast, and guests. And … that’s a tradition that goes back to Walt Disney himself.”
No specific details were shared on who would be returning and when.
