Hollywood Studios Toll Plaza Set for Upgrades Following New Permit Filing
Walt Disney Imagineering has officially filed a new permit for work at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios entrance toll plaza, signaling that a refresh is on the way for the park’s front door.

The recently filed permit lists the project’s location specifically at the main toll plaza where guests pay for parking or scan their MagicBands before entering the lot. The contractor listed for the job is Adena Corporation, a frequent partner for Disney that has worked on everything from major attractions to large-scale infrastructure projects.
While the permit is officially for “General Construction,” the involvement of Adena suggests that this is more than just a simple coat of paint.

Disney hasn’t officially announced the scope of the project yet, but based on recent trends across the Walt Disney World Resort, we can speculate on a few possibilities:
- New Tech Upgrades: We’ve seen Disney move toward more streamlined entry processes. This work could involve updated scanning technology or automated systems to get guests through the toll booths and into the parking lot faster.
- A Fresh Aesthetic: With the recent reimagining of other park entrances (like the massive overhaul at EPCOT or the 50th-anniversary makeover at Magic Kingdom), the Hollywood Studios plaza might be getting a modern look that better fits the current park branding.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: It’s also possible the work involves lane expansions or concrete restoration to ensure the high-traffic area stays in top shape for the years to come.
Will This Affect Your Next Trip?
Usually, work on the toll plazas is handled lane-by-lane to avoid major backups. If you are heading to Hollywood Studios in the coming months, just be prepared for potential lane closures and give yourself a few extra minutes to navigate the entrance.
