Deal gives Telecinco Spanish adaptation rights to TV series produced by ABC Studios, Stateside and abroad.
Telecinco, which is now producing Juan Antonio Bayona’s “The Impossible,” toplining Naomi Watts, has also committed to a nonexclusive but close working relationship with Disney, which will distribute films co-produced by Telecinco Cinema.
The Disney-Telecinco pacts reflects the state of play in the Spanish TV market. The launch of new DTT services is forcing Spain’s TV operators to bet on cost-effective acquisitions such as Hollywood programming.
