Take180, the Disney-owned online video network for teens that features broadcast quality shows, has teamed with YouTube to launch “Corey and Lucas for the Win,” an online-based prequel to The Walt Disney Studios feature film “Prom.” The first two episodes of the series are now on Take180’s new YouTube channel, The So What (www.YouTube.com/TheSoWhat), and on Disney.com (http://www.Disney.com/CoreyandLucas).
The first two episodes feature YouTube celebrities Shane Dawson and The Annoying Orange alongside “Prom” stars Cameron Monaghan (“Shameless”) and Nolan Sotillo (“Madison High”). A new episode will launch every Wednesday culminating with the season finale on Wednesday April 27, two days before the release of Disney’s “Prom,” which launches in theaters April 29.
The story centers on Corey’s quest to become a YouTube star in order to win the affections of Alyssa, a Production Assistant at the television station where he and Lucas are interns. “Corey and Lucas for the Win” also includes up-and-coming new stars Savannah Jayde (“Big Time Rush”) and Scott Portlock alongside “That 70s Show” vet Don Stark. Nicholas Braun (“Red State”) will make a cameo appearance as Lloyd, the character he plays in Disney’s “Prom.” Other YouTube celebrities appearing in the series include ShayCarl, LisaNova, Michael Buckley, DeStorm and OlgaKay.
The seven YouTube celebrities appearing in the series have generated a combined 2.7 Billion video views and 12.5 Million subscribers on YouTube, 10 Million Facebook friends and 1.7 Million Twitter followers and will be tapping their respective fanbases to tout this exciting new offering.
