I am sure you heard by now that Disney World and the Union are in ongoing contract negotiations. Well Disney has made an offer.
Disney World recently offered a new contract to the Service Trades Council, which would raise starting pay for full time cast members to $10 an hour but there would be no more pensions for future cast members.
Starting pay would go up to $9 an hour right away this year, then another raise to $9.50 the next year, and then finally to $10 by July 2016.
There is more, If you are a full time cast member and not at the top of you your pay scale you would only get 3 raises of at least 50 cents per hour. If you are already at the top of your pay scale you would get 3 raises of 30 cents an hour.
The Union asked to no longer offer pensions for cast members hired on or after Jan. 1, 2016. They would instead be asked to join 401(k) plans instead.
Disney would continue to offer pensions to any cast member hired by Dec. 31, 2015 and enroll them in the new 401(k) plans.
I know this is a controversial topic and being a former cast member I have strong feelings about it. Share your thoughts with us?

When you say ‘cast members’ do you mean the people in the costumes? Seems amazing to me they would be on such low pay scales.
