Disney Nature’s Chimpanzee Movie Review

Disney Nature's Chimpanzee Movie Review

If you have seen the previews for Disney Nature’s new Chimpanzee movie you were probably touched like I was and intrigued by this movie. I was a little worried when the previews said “some scenes may be too intense for young viewers” so I took my 11 year old son and left my 8 year old at home.

We both thoroughly enjoyed this film, it is touching, heart wrenching and fascinating all at the same time. Tim Allen does an amazing job with the narration and inserts humor when it is needed in the film. The story of the orphaned chimp and his unlikely adopted father is just amazing and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

There are some intense scenes but Disney does a great job not showing anything too graphic. However, (spoiler alert) my son and I did learn that chimps are cannibals which was a little disturbing. There are some deaths in the film but nothing is shown dying so most kids should do fine seeing the film. I love how the movie can appeal to audiences of all ages.

If you do go, be sure and stay through the credits. There were many times during the film I kept asking myself “how on earth did they film THAT!?” if you stay through the credits you will find out how, and it is truly amazing!

So I give Chimpanzee two thumbs up and hope you take some time out to go and see this heart warming film.

If you do go, be sure to comment and let me know what YOU thought!

  1. I completely agree! My fiancee and I saw it, we are college age, and we both really enjoyed it. We have watched all of the Disney nature movies and this was one of our favorites. The story was touching and the movie footage was amazing! Tim Allen did a great job keeping it interesting, which was more than I can say for most documentary type movies. Disney did great again!

  2. saw it yeasterday and loved it. cant believe it took four years to film thats a long time to spend in the rain forest!

  3. I agree! My kids are the same age and we all went and loved it. It was fascinating and touching. Two thumbs up from everyone in the fam!
