A Disney official announced on Friday that the Walt Disney Company’s cloud-based movie storage system, Disney Movies Anywhere, will be teaming up with Vudu, an online store operated by Wal-Mart.
Through the partnership, films bought on Vudu will be integrated with the Disney Movies Anywhere service starting on Tuesday. This news was delivered by Jamie Voris, Disney Studios’ chief technology officer at an event where the company highlighted new mobile initiatives.
Currently through Disney Movies Anywhere, customers can buy more than 400 Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies and watch them from Internet connected TVs, computers, tablets, or smart phones. Vudu will join Apple Inc’s iTunes and Google Play as retailers.
