As we begin to head into the second half of 2024, many families are planning their 2025 Walt Disney World Vacations. If you are in the middle of planning a visit to the Walt Disney World resort with an arrival of January 2025 or later, you will want to take note of an updated cancellation policy that may impact your stay.

The current Walt Disney World resort cancellation policy allows guests with room-only reservations to cancel their booking without penalty up to 5 days before arrival for a full refund. Cancellations between 4 and 0 days will forfeit the deposit, which is equal to 1 night stay. For packages (think room and tickets booked together), a cancellation up to 30 days before arrival qualifies for a full refund while a cancellation between 2 to 29 days out results in a $200 cancellation fee (equivalent to the minimum package deposit). Package cancellations the day before or on your arrival day result in forfeiture of the entire package price.

According to a post made by a Disney Panelist on the Plan Disney website, the cancellation policy for room-only reservations has been updated as follows: starting January 1, 2025, cancellations made at least 8 days before your arrival qualify for a full refund, cancellations between 0 and 8 days before forfeit the deposit (equal to 1 night stay). This update means you will need to cancel your room-only reservation 3 days sooner to qualify for a full refund. Note at this time there has been no change to the cancellation policies for packages.
