Yesterday, as rumors of “Doc McStuffins” being cancelled and not returning for a fifth season grew rapidly, the hashtag #renewDocMcStuffins” spread like wildfire. Even celebs like Zendaya and comedian W. Kamau Bell were rallying for the Disney Junior show to stay on!

Begging networks to not cancel shows ain’t my thing but @DisneyJunior has NOT renewed Season 5 of #DocMcStuffins! https://t.co/DDxfOla7Mm

The creator and executive producer of the show Chris Nee said in response to all Doc McStuffins love that had gone viral:
“I am always looking for ways to shine a light on people who don’t get to see themselves represented on TV. I think it’s one of the most powerful things we have in working in especially preschool television. Unfortunately – like everyone else – we [African American population] really lag in our representation of people who are in the mainstream.”
Disney Junior took to Twitter to respond to the concern of the show possibly being cancelled:
“Wow – thanks for all the love and cuddles! As long as there are toys to fix, the Doc will be in!” — #DocMcStuffinspic.twitter.com/ldotHfruNG

Nee is encouraging fans that they can watch Season 4 on Netflix to keep the love for Doc McStuffins alive, and to increase the chances of Disney Junior to renew the show for a fifth season.
