Disney Issues Statement on Fantasmic Fire in Disneyland – Suspends Fire Effects Globally
Disney has just issued a statement on the fire that occurred last night in Disneyland which set the Maleficent Dragon ablaze during Fantasmic!
“During the final showing of Fantasmic! at Disneyland Park on Saturday evening, the dragon prop caught fire. Anaheim Fire & Rescue quickly responded, and the fire was extinguished.”
“All cast members were safely evacuated from Tom Sawyer Island. Due to smoke and wind, attractions near the island were safely evacuated of any guests, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.”

“We are temporarily suspending fire effects similar to those used at Disneyland Park’s Fantasmic! at select shows and entertainment experiences globally out of an abundance of caution following the Fantasmic! prop fire at Disneyland Park.
The continued safety of our cast and guests is of the utmost importance.”
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade – Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom’s Festival of Fantasy Parade also has a fire-breathing Maleficent Dragon. You can see the fire-breathing dragon below:
Back in 2018, Maleficent the Dragon caught fire at Walt Disney World, it was quickly extinguished and nobody was injured just like last night.
Like Disney states many factors are to blame when it comes to fire and pyrotechnics. We are just glad nobody was hurt and that Guest and Cast Member safety remains one of their highest priority.
