If you can remember back to the warm days of early summer (June 27th I think), you might remember a little Disney themed spa night post that I wrote, inspired by The Little Mermaid. Today I’m back with a new nail look and it is perfect for the holiday season! I’m taking inspiration from one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever had the luxury of seeing, Cinderella Castle at its sparkly best! That’s right, today’s nails are inspired by the diamond dipped Cinderella Castle at Christmas time!
Here’s a picture of my inspiration (disclaimer: this is NOWHERE near as perfect as it is in person!)
Put em’ Together and What do you Got?
I wanted to create a wearable translation of this theme. Cinderella Castle is simply mesmerizing, especially during the holiday season. I was going for a diamond dipped ombre look. I wanted to find the right mix of ombre and sparkle and I shopped my stash for a shimmery translucent grey shade (I used part of a Gradiation Nail Kit from Kiss, bottle number one), a light blue (I used Essie’s “Rock the Boat”), a chunky hex glitter (I used Essie’s “Set in Stone”), a bar style holographic glitter (I used Nicole’s Selena Gomez line “Stars at Night”), and finally a chunky grey/black/silver nail glitter pot (I used Nail Art Glitter’s “Onyx”).
Cinderella’s Christmas Castle: Diamond Dipped Castle
I call this look “Cinderella’s Christmas Castle: Diamond Dipped Edition!”
1. Prepped my nails by clipping, filing, cleaning, and buffing them as well as cleaning up my cuticles and moisturizing my hands.
2. Next, I applied a clear basecoat. I used an OPI basecoat (this will make your creation last beyond midnight).
3. I applied 1 Layer of shimmery translucent grey shade (I used part of a Gradiation Nail Kit from Kiss, bottle number one) to my entire nail.
4. I applied 1 sheer layer of a light blue (I used Essie’s “Rock the Boat”) to the top half of my nail. This blue is a very buildable color and it was sheer enough to transition smoothly with the base color.
5. Next I painted the top half of each nail with a chunky hex glitter (I used Essie’s “Set in Stone”). After it dried, I applied a bar style holographic glitter (I used Nicole’s Selena Gomez line “Stars at Night”).
6. While my fingers were still wet from the glitter paint, I dipped the tip of each nail into a chunky grey/black/silver nail glitter pot (I used Nail Art Glitter’s “Onyx”).
6. Finally, I apply a quick drying topcoat. I used Orly’s “Sec N Dry.”
Here’s the finished product… (note the obligatory hidden Mickey)
This fun look didn’t take long to create! The best part was that I didn’t have to buy anything new! All I had to do was shop my stash and I put ’em together and what have you got? A Bibbidi-bobbidi-beeeautiful tribute to the beautiful Cinderella Castle at Christmas! I hope that you enjoyed this simple nail tutorial! I also hope that you’ll get inspired to dream up some of your own Disney designs; when it comes to Disney inpsired nails, a dream is a wish your heart makes! I can’t wait to wear these nails around town this holiday season! It’s like I have a little bit of the park with me at all times! In the comment section below, let me know if you tried out this look or something similar to it!
As always, thanks for reading and commenting!
See ya real soon,
Ashley
