Walt Disney Imagineering is keeping fans updated as the Disney Destiny makes her transatlantic journey to Florida — and today’s reveal is one fit for a king. As part of their “Crossing Diaries” series on Instagram, Imagineers shared a behind-the-scenes look at the installation of the ship’s stunning new Black Panther-inspired atrium statue featuring T’Challa.

The short clips, shared on Day 3 of the journey, began with the caption “Unwrapping something exciting!” as crew members carefully removed moving blankets and tape from a massive covered figure. Soon, the unmistakable form of the panther appeared, standing guard beside a wrapped statue of King T’Challa himself — the first Marvel character ever featured in a Disney Cruise Line Grand Hall.
We got an early glimpse of the completed statue back in April, when Walt Disney Imagineering offered a first look at the sculpt in a preview reel. Now, fans are finally seeing it find its permanent home at the heart of the Disney Destiny’s Black Panther–themed Grand Hall.

The Disney Destiny also makes history with another Marvel milestone — Spider-Man will serve as the ship’s stern character, marking the cruise line’s first Marvel-themed exterior figure.
The Heroes & Villains–themed ship is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage from Port Everglades on November 20, bringing a new era of storytelling and adventure to the high seas.
