Tom Fitzgerald, Portfolio Executive Creative Director and Chief Storytelling Executive for Imagineering, says the idea of flying over the United States felt like a “natural next flight for Soarin’ to take,” and with the 250th anniversary of the United States approaching, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

The Imagineering team has been crisscrossing the country capturing new aerial footage that highlights America’s diverse beauty—from towering city skylines to breathtaking mountain ranges, shimmering coastlines, and everything in between. Using a blend of satellite mapping, aerial path modeling, and advanced filming rigs, Imagineers are crafting a seamless flight that captures the heart of the nation.

Behind the lens, the team is employing helicopter rigs, specialized camera lenses, and even heavy-lift drones to capture the grandeur of America’s landscapes. Executive Creative Media Producer Bernice Howes shared that smooth transitions between scenic wonders and bustling cities will help paint a geographical portrait that feels unified and inspiring.

Fitzgerald added, “Our goal was to offer guests a sampling of America’s beauty and urban wonders with the hope it would paint an emotional portrait for the nation’s Semiquincentennial celebration.”

While Disney hasn’t yet revealed which landmarks will make the final cut, fans can likely expect a mix of iconic destinations—perhaps a sunrise over the Grand Canyon, a swoop through the skyscrapers of New York City, and maybe even a heartwarming finale set to patriotic music that ties it all together in classic Disney style.
