Imagineering Files Permit for Encanto Ride Set Elements at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Construction continues to move full steam ahead on the upcoming Tropical Americas expansion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and a newly filed permit suggests the Encanto attraction is entering an exciting new phase. Walt Disney Imagineering recently filed a Notice of Commencement for the installation of set elements inside the upcoming Encanto-themed attraction currently under construction in the new land.

According to the permit, the work will be carried out by Scenario, a company that specializes in show sets, scenic painting, props, animated and static figures, rockwork, and architectural ornamentation. While Scenario is not one of Imagineering’s most commonly used vendors, the company previously contributed work on the newest version of Test Track at EPCOT.
The permit indicates that construction on the Encanto attraction is progressing beyond structural work and into interior show installation. This stage typically includes the large scenic pieces, environmental details, and props that help bring the attraction’s story to life inside the ride building.
Based on previously revealed concept details, the attraction will take guests inside Casa Madrigal on the special day Antonio Madrigal receives his magical gift. Visitors will join the family celebration and explore the enchanted home where each room is filled with surprises inspired by the Madrigal family and their magical abilities.

Construction on the attraction’s main show building appears to be well advanced. The steel framework has been completed and the roof structure is already in place. Crews have also begun working on the attraction’s queue area located in front of the building.
The Encanto attraction will be part of the larger Tropical Americas expansion coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The new 11-acre land will also feature an Indiana Jones adventure set inside a Mayan temple along with a colorful carousel inspired by the animals of Latin America. At the center of the land will be Pueblo Esperanza, a vibrant village marketplace inspired by towns across Latin America. The area is expected to include an open-air market atmosphere along with a large quick-service restaurant and gathering spaces.
Tropical Americas is currently scheduled to open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2027, replacing DinoLand U.S.A. with a richly themed environment inspired by the cultures, wildlife, and stories of Central and South America.
