Disney Ice Princess Star Michelle Trachtenberg Dies at 39
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in popular films and television series like Disney’s “Ice Princess” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” has tragically passed away at the age of 39.
According to ABC News, Trachtenberg was found by her mother in her New York City apartment on Wednesday morning. While a cause of death has not been officially confirmed, sources suggest that she may have experienced complications following a recent liver transplant.

Trachtenberg began her acting career at a young age, captivating audiences with her performances in shows like “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and the title role in “Harriet the Spy.” She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Dawn Summers in the supernatural drama series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” appearing in 66 episodes from 2000 to 2003.
Trachtenberg also starred in several Disney productions, including the 1999 live-action film “Inspector Gadget” as Penny and the 2005 figure-skating drama “Ice Princess” as Casey Carlyle.
Her other notable roles include Georgina Sparks in “Gossip Girl” and its 2021 sequel series, Maggie in “17 Again,” and Jenny in “EuroTrip.”
Throughout her career, Trachtenberg received numerous accolades, including Young Artist Awards for her work in “Harriet the Spy,” “Meego,” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” She was also honored with the Breakthrough Performer award at the 2007 Sarasota Film Festival for her role in “Beautiful Ohio.”
Trachtenberg’s passing is a significant loss to the entertainment industry, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances that touched the lives of many.
