The Walt Disney Company loves to demonstrate its commitment to U.S. servicemembers and veterans whenever it can. In partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce “Hiring our Heroes” program, Disney recently hosted participants for work experience. The program intends to connect the military community with American businesses to provide networking, training and experience in the civilian workforce. They do that by providing 12-weeks of civilian work experience.

As a host company in the Corporate Fellowship Program, Disney recently provided Florida-based participants a day of networking and fellowship at the Walt Disney World Resort. Sixty service members were included in the opportunity, thirty of whom attended virtually.

They started their day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, with a ride on the Avatar Flight of Passage attraction located in Pandora – The World of Avatar. After their morning in the park, the group were treated to a backstage tour of some of the facilities. They ended the day with lunch, presentations, and round table discussions with Disney cast members who are military veterans themselves, as well as part of the “Disney SALUTE” veteran affinity group.

Deputy Director (East) for the Corporate Fellowship Program at Hiring our Heroes, Aleksandra Johnston said “Working alongside companies like Disney gives our service members a chance to network and gain hands-on experience so they can begin their new careers after their military service. Veterans and their families bring incredible value and expertise to companies, and we are happy to lead programs that connect the two together.” (Disney)
