Disney Hires ‘Toy Story 3′ Writer Michael Arndt To Write the 'Phineas and Ferb' Movie

Fans of ‘Phineas and Ferb’, get ready to be very excited. Disney has hired Michael Arndt, the Academy Award winning writer of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and nominated for his work on ‘Toy Story 3’ has been hired to write ‘Phineas and Ferb: The Movie’, the characters jump to the big screen. Hit the jump for more.

While an initial draft of the script has been finished by the creators of the show “Swampy” Marsh and Don Povenmire, it looks like they’ve hired Arndt to come on and tighten up the script in only the way he could. This is great news for the movie, because Ardnt is known for his very character driven and emotional stories, so there is  good chance ‘Phineas and Ferb’ will have a very emotional punch. Little is known about the storyline at the time, but it is said to be a mix of live action and animation. This really is very exciting news, and this is has seriously pushed the movie up to one of my most anticipated of the next few years. I can’t wait to see it. Are you excited about this news? 1. In no way was I trying to offend you, so I’m sorry I did. I was just showing where I was coming from. I was just pointing out Disney movies have almost always been very, very emotional. Whether it be something like Bambi, or even Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension, there is something emotional in the story. That’s all I was trying to say. I wasn’t at all calling out your character or anything like that. The movie will of course make us laugh, but pulling on heartstrings, to me, isn’t necessarily bad either. 🙂 Again, I wasn’t trying to offend you, just saying where I was coming from. You’re definitely entitled to your opinion, and it’s a valid one. I see what you’re saying. I just have a different view on the situation. 🙂

  2. Patrick, I don’t think you meant to offend me, but you did. I am a loving mother that cries at sappy commercials, please don’t feel the need to explain to me that it’s okay for children to be emotional.
I do think a slight amount of emotion fits the series, but not at the level of Toy Story 3. As for comparing P&F to Bambi and Snow White? I have to admit that I’m confused. Those were movies that stand on their own, we are speaking of a show with millions of fans that expect one thing from this upcoming movie….to laugh.
And that is all from me. I won’t be commenting again on the subject.

  3. I have to disagree. Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension had a very emotional part to it and kids seemed to enjoy that just fine. There really isn’t anything wrong with a kids movie being emotional. That would destroy a good portion of Disney’s back catalog and classics, like Bambi and Snow White if we thought kids would be annoyed by emotional movies. I don’t think it’s right to assume that kids will annoyed by something emotional because they all seemed to love Toy Story 3, with no problems. Of course, that’s just my opinion. Thank you for reading, DL4me

  4. My whole family loves the show. But I can’t say I’m excited about Arndt (co)writing the movie. Toy Story 3 was fantastic, but a real tear-jerker. Most kids that watch Phineas and Ferb will be annoyed with an emotional movie. And live action(!), please no!

Leave it alone, and they will come.
