Disney has been interested in a 700-acre piece of land in the Bahamas called Lighthouse Point. Lighthouse Point is a privately owned island where Disney hopes to develop a new cruise port. If successful, Disney Cruise Line would supply 120 jobs and other employment opportunities for the area.
Residents have been strongly opposing this idea on the southern tip of the island Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The residents hope to keep the piece of land untouched and in pristine condition, and instead recommends Disney to share the existing port at Princess Cay, Eleuthera and for the country to invest in more diverse models for development.
Eyewitness News understands that meetings between all stakeholders are planned for this week with the BCCEC on the development.
