DinoLand U.S.A. to Begin Phased Closure Ahead of Holiday Season, Making Way for New ‘Encanto’ and Indiana Jones Attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
New Disney Gossip suggests that DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will begin its phased closure before the 2024 holiday season. This move is reportedly to make way for the highly anticipated “Encanto”-themed area and a new Indiana Jones attraction, both part of the upcoming Pueblo Esperanza land.

The first section expected to close is Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, which includes the carnival games and TriceraTop Spin. This area is slated to be replaced by the “Encanto” attraction, where guests will join the Madrigal family in their magical Casita.
Further closures are rumored to continue into 2025, with the popular DINOSAUR ride being the next to go. While an official closing date hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to be replaced with an Indiana Jones adventure set in an ancient Mayan temple.
The new land will also feature a wood-carved carousel showcasing Disney animals, adding a touch of whimsy to the area.
Although Disney has yet to confirm these rumored closure timelines, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro has previously stated that guests will have “plenty of time” to enjoy DINOSAUR before its closure. The full completion of Pueblo Esperanza is expected in 2027.
