Disney Files Permit for Demolition of NBA Experience in Disney Springs
Disney has submitted a permit for the NBA Experience, the long-closed venue at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. The permit, labeled “General construction/Demo,” has been assigned to Adena, a contractor with a history of working on major Disney World projects, such as the recent World Celebration Gardens at EPCOT and TORN Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom.

The exact nature of the construction work is unclear, and it remains to be seen if it is tied to a new tenant. Potential demolition activities may involve removing the large basketball mural covering the building or modifying the customized interior space designed for the NBA Experience.
While Disney has actively sought new tenants for the venue, no official announcement has been made regarding a replacement. The NBA Experience has been temporarily repurposed as a popup location for Meta Quest and later served as office space for the Summer House on the Lake opening.
The NBA Experience shut down along with the rest of Walt Disney World during the peak of the pandemic and did not reopen. Disney confirmed in August 2021 that the NBA Experience would remain permanently closed.
