Pin Shadow Box

I don’t know about you, but after getting home from a great Walt Disney World vacation, I like to spend some time admiring my new souvenirs, including my great new Disney Pins. Of course my Disney Pin collection is far too big to fit on one lanyard, so I got to thinking – how can I display all those great pins in one place? I decided to make a shadow box display case for them, and it was so easy that you could do it too!

DIY Shadow Box Display Case

You Will Need:

-Foam Core – 1 sheet (Approximate cost – $3)
-Felt – 2 8 x 11 sheets in the color of your choice (Approximate cost – $1)
-Double sided tape or glue (Use whatever you have around the house)
-Shadow box frame – they come in a variety of sizes and can be purchased at your local craft store (Approximate cost with coupon – $10-$15)

**Don’t forget your COUPON – many craft stores have weekly ads with coupons for 40% or 50% off a single item, this
is a perfect item to use those coupons on, and some stores like Joann Fabrics even have a mobile app where you can access
coupons via your smartphone – no paper coupon needed!)
-Your Disney Pin Collection to fill the box!

*Total cost = Under $20 (not including pins, of course!)

How To Assemble Your Display Case:

-Cut your foam core and felt to size using the removable back piece of the shadow box frame
-Glue/tape the felt to the fome core
-Arrange your Disney Pins on the foam core however you want (A Mickey Head shape perhaps?)
*I ended up leaving the pin backs off the pins, as there wasn’t enough room for them, and the pins stayed put fine pushed into
the felt/foam core
-Place the foam core/felt with the pins into the frame and put the back piece in and secure
-Hang your Disney Pin Display case in a place where you can admire it daily!

This is a great way to display all those great pins you have collected over the years, and its also a perfect reminder of all those great Disney vacation memories!

What about all you Pin Collectors out there – what do you do to display your collection at home?

  1. I started pin trading in 2005, and only trade for ones that I really like – there’s just no way to collect every pin! For a while I collected the completer/chaser pins instead of entire sets, plus any pin I couldn’t pass up. Now all my pins are displayed on cork boards hanging in my hallway. That way I can see them every day and still be surprised at night by the ones that glow in the dark! When I get ready to pin trade I take pictures of my pin boards with me so I don’t trade for the same pins I already have!
