Disney Dining News – Spice Road Table Coming to Morocco Pavilion at Epcot World Showcase

SR

Spice Road Table is coming soon to Epcot’s Morocco Pavilion at Walt Disney World Resort, offering a variety of Moroccan small plates and specialty drinks.  While we don’t have official word on the exact opening date, we know it’s coming soon! I took the photo below just last month, and things appear to be coming along quickly.

So what can we look forward to at Spice Road Table?

Regional flavors from the Mediterranean will be highlighted. Small plates are always great because you get to try a variety of new dishes, and Spice Road Table will offer these for sure. Items on the menu will include zesty harissa chicken drumettes; a Mediterranean omelet with sausage, potatoes and caramelized onion; mussels with preserved lemons and tomato sauce baked in an earthenware tagine pot; Moroccan merguez sausage with a fresh tomato salad; garlicky jumbo shrimp in a spicy chile pepper sauce. Guests can wash it all down with what is sure to be a fabulous menu of unique Moroccan cocktails.  They are sure to be very creative and different!

Spice Road Table will also offer another perfect location to view “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” in the evenings. With 120 outdoor terrace seats outside and 60 cozy booths inside, this restaurant will help accommodate the overwhelming number of guests who prefer dining during this show at Epcot, which is always an amazing experience. During the day, we can look out onto the beautiful World Showcase lagoon, which in itself is wonderful and relaxing. Also featured inside will be Moroccan light fixtures, tilework, tapestries and art representing Morocco’s indigenous Berber tribes.

On the outside of the restaurant there will be a whitewashed facade that is accented in icy shades of blue. These beautiful blues are inspired by the famous “Blue City of Chefchaouen in Morocco’s Rif Mountains. As with all the Pavilions in World Showcase, authenticity is key! A collection of shops in the colorful style of a Moroccan “souk,” or marketplace, will stretch along the front of the building. You can see the concept art at the top of this post to get an idea of what’s to come. To top it all off – there will even be a  a henna tattoo artist nearby to create temporary body art for a fee. The henna tattoo artist will offer  both traditional and modern designs.

Spice Road Table is the third eatery in the Morocco pavilion, joining The Tangierine Café, which features a variety of Moroccan sandwiches and specialty pastries, and Restaurant Marrakesh, where savory dishes, Moroccan music and belly dancers showcase the authentic charm of the North African country.
