Last week Disney began construction on the refurbishment on the Polynesian‘s Great Ceremonial house. The construction is expected to last through December. Sadly this means there will be some closures. I know closures and construction are a big annoyance but just think of how beautiful it will be when everything is done.
Closures:
- Capt Cook’s will be closed temporarily. I was given a time frame of 3-6 months.
- Some you may already know but The Wyland Gallery is closed for good and will not be re-opening.
- The Neverland Club is closed and will re-open the end of April, with a new theme and a new name.
- The eastern part of the beach
- Sunset Point
There will also be limited Monorail hours.
Disney has not officially released any specific dates for any of these changes!
Now that we got that out of the way, let’s move on to the important stuff, the FOOD!
Drum roll please!!!
Now appearing at the Tambu Lounge will be everyone’s favorite ‘Ohana Bread Pudding. So now you can just stop over for a quick dessert and not have to get an entire meal, and make a reservation, just to get your favorite dessert. I suggest adding a Lapu Lapu while your are noshing on this yummy dessert.
What do you think of the changes? Let us know in the comment box below.
Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

It says in the article “Are you upset that ‘Ohana will be closed?” It doesn’t say when though. I was just asking since we have reservations in July.
I just spoke with the Dining Reservation line, and the agent assured me that if our reservations would be affected in any way, Disney would be contacting US. (I also have reservations on May 26…right after your reservation time).
I have reservations on May 26, and your article scared the life out of me. I just called and verified that O’hana will be open during that time frame, and if they will be closing…anyone of us with reservations will be contacted directly by Disney.
The customer support agent at the Dining Reservations didn’t see O’hana on the list at all for any refurbishments. I’m not sure where you acquired this information, but it isn’t confirmed according to what the agent told me.
As gently as I can suggest, would it not be prudent to have some more definite information (like dates, time frames, etc.) on a story like this before posting it? I’m a little concerned as well about the accuracy here. According to Disney, this isn’t accurate.
Again, just offering a gentle suggestion. 🙂
In the article and comments it states that O’hana will NOT be closed.
We have reservations on May 24, any ideas if they would let you make them if it were closed?
Do we know approximately the closed and reopen dates?
Have they announced when they are closing Ohana?! It’s one of our favorite places to eat!
