Disney Magic would not be possible without the dedication of the Disney Custodial Cast Members
Walt Disney World is dubbed the Most Magical Place on Earth for a reason. In this magical realm, beloved characters are often hidden in plain sight. On the occasion of National Custodian Appreciation Day, we invite you to meet three remarkable custodians from Walt Disney World who infuse magic into the guest experience in subtle and unexpected ways!

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Greg, a custodial cast member, knows the excitement and sense of awe the park brings better than anyone. A former artist, Greg took on the role of custodian at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and began noticing the untamed beauty of the flowers scattered throughout the park. Inspired by their vivid colors and unique shapes, he started collecting these blooms during his rounds and transformed them into breathtaking floral masterpieces.
“The most rewarding part of my role is when guests join me while I’m creating my art,” says Greg. “When I notice children watching me, I hand them a flower and ask if they’d like to help. I love creating these unexpected surprises to add to the magic—and they love it too!”
Greg’s vibrant displays serve as a reminder that art can bloom wherever inspiration takes root.
Amidst the whirlwind of attractions and parade floats at Magic Kingdom Park, Joel, a custodial cast member, brings a touch of enchantment to the park’s vibrant atmosphere with his extraordinary flair for transforming water into captivating works of art.
Using a simple broom and a splash of water, Joel’s artistic process flows as fluidly as the water he wields. Breathing life into beloved characters like Mickey and friends, each piece is a testament to his artistic passion as he turns water into wonder.
“There are times when I’ve been so engrossed in creating water art that I look up to find a crowd has gathered to watch what I’m doing,” shares Joel. “Their reactions and excitement make me love what I do. I have never felt so appreciated!”

EPCOT cast member Dye possesses a unique talent for turning ordinary towels into whimsical creations, ranging from adorable animals to iconic characters. Her creations adorn the restrooms she cares for, adding a touch of delight to the guest experience.
“I love that in Custodial I can be myself,” Dye explains. “Everyone comes to Walt Disney World to have fun, so I get to bring my silly and authentic self to work every day. People always tell us how we make their visit magical, but interactions with guests are what make my day magical! Creating special moments for them is my favorite part of the day.”
Always up for a challenge, Dye is currently perfecting her towel shark after a cast member mentioned it as their favorite animal. “Just give me one week. I’ll have it figured out,” says Dye confidently.
We extend our gratitude to our custodial cast members, not just on National Custodian Appreciation Day but every day of the year. Thank you for making our parks shine and sparkle as brightly as you do!
