Disney Cruise Line has rescued 3 Cuban refugees on Thursday’s just outside Cuba. When the three people who were brought on board after being found hanging on to what was left of a capsized boat, it was discovered that they were running from the US to escape credit card fraud charges, since Cuba does not return its nationals to the U.S. to face prosecution. There has been a surge of cases where Cubans come to the United States to perform the credit card fraud and then flee just before they are caught.
The US Marshall’s Office said that two of the three men have outstanding federal warrants in New Orleans. On Friday an arrest warrant was issued for the third man on the same charge. The men’s names are Luis Rivera-Garcia, 26, Juliet Estrada-Perez, 23, and Enrique Gonzalez-Torres, 23.
Disney spotted the men in the water near Varadero, Cuba. According to maritime law the ship is to pick the men up and drop them off at the next port. Cruise ships lines have an agreement with the US Coast Guard to have them take away of any migrants that are found. Meanwhile at the next port the Coast Guard fingerprinted the men and turned them over to the US Marshall Office.
Thanks to Disney these men will not get away! What do you think? Comment below!
