Inside the Contemporary Resort’s Easter Egg Gallery
This year, the Muppets take center stage at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for the annual chocolate Easter egg showcase. Located in the lobby near Steakhouse 71, these highly detailed showpieces—meticulously designed by the resort’s pastry chefs—offer a sweet and nostalgic tribute to Jim Henson’s iconic characters.

It’s a sensational Muppet tribute! Dominating the center of the display is the divine Miss Piggy, created with incredible detail by Cast Member Erick and accented by blooming roses and twin egg-shaped lamps. To her side, Statler and Waldorf look on from their famous theater box, while a gallery of Muppet eggs fills the iconic archways inspired by the show’s opening credits.

The legendary hecklers, Statler and Waldorf, were brought to life by Cast Members Brandi, Carisa, Donald, and Desirey, seated in a regal red booth accented with gold trim and velvet-style curtains. Behind them, a gallery of Muppet favorites—including Sam Eagle, Sweetums, Kermit, and the Swedish Chef—fills the display.
These intricate designs utilize fondant and icing to achieve delicate details like the filigree on the archways and Sam Eagle’s patriotic hat. This collaborative effort featured Sam by Molly; Sweetums by Taurea and Clay; and Kermit and the Swedish Chef by Hannah (with Clay assisting on Kermit). Finishing out the ensemble, Clay crafted Fozzie and Animal, while Desirey meticulously designed the duo of Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.
