In a recent interview with USA Today Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks confirms that Tron Lightcycle Run will not be open in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary in October of 2021.
The company’s 2021 plans, therefore, remain something of a mystery with most of the news focusing on all of the changes coming to Epcot for the anniversary such as Remy Ratatouille Adventure, Harmonious, and even Space 220.
Here is more information from that interview:
Another big-ticket, eagerly anticipated roller coaster, TRON Lightcycle / Run, is under construction next to Space Mountain in the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. The launched ride, which will also include indoor scenes, will be themed to the “Tron” sci-fi movies. The coaster isn’t expected to open during the park’s 50th birthday year. But The Hall of Presidents, an opening day attraction, will likely be updated in 2021 to include President-elect Joe Biden.
So it looks like Tron Lightcycle Run will not be open by at least October of 2021.

I have seen reports online that state that we will not see it open until at least 2022 due to money issues. (Gossip for now)
With all of the construction updates for Tron, it looked like things were moving along but I guess we will have to wait a little longer to experience this attraction.
