Disney Confidential – Australia coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Hey there guys and gals..I know I know it’s been awhile since I have written anything. But with the holidays and my many Disney trips the only time I have is to check my email and laugh at the Deeks on Chip’s 2 Lonely Deeks page.

Anywho lets get down to business…

It seems the Disney Forums, websites, and internet is a buzz here lately with all the expansions, refurbishments, and all out retooling of the Walt Disney World Resort. One of the articles I especially like is the Vibrant Waterfront District Among Plans for Downtown Disney. I am very excited about what Disney has planned for Downtown Disney.

But the biggest thing that ran across my screen today is not about Fantasyland, Downtown Disney or even a new land in Epcot(wink)..It’s an Aussie invasion on the Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Work on the rumored Australia section of the park has reportedly been approved and is somewhat underway according to The Disney Blog. Here is a tiny piece of that article.

Australia is the first step in realizing the final vision of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park currently lacks any aquatic/sea-life exhibits. So picture a Great Barrier Reef exhibit and a Killer Whale and/or Dolphin show. DAK does have a few Kangaroo, but a larger Marsupial exhibit would be a great addition. The location of Australia will allow guests to walk to and from the Conservation Station and allows removal of the Wildlife Express railroad. That frees up important land in Africa which will finally allow The Festival of the Lion King to move to its rightful place in the park. Once that happens, Camp Minnie Mickey is open to be re-themed (although don’t get your hopes up for Beastly Kingdom, that ship has sailed).

I suggest you heading over and giving the article a good once over. There is alot of speculation and opinion there which is right up my alley. I know Chip usually waits for actual news but I am the Yin to his Yang or the Yang to his Yin and like to report things before they actually become fact..It’s a lot more fun that way.

So what do you guys and gals think about Aussieland in DAK? Good idea? Or do you think that would be better served in Epcot? Let me know in the comment section below.

Well that is all the time I have for today. If you have any Disney gossip drop me a line at anonymouse@chipandco.com or drop by my Facebook Page.
