Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

In a heart-stopping moment at EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the quick response of Disney Cast Members and park guests helped save a young boy’s life. The incident was shared by Christine Tagle in the Walt Disney World Tips and Tricks Facebook group, where she recounted the harrowing experience that unfolded on September 21st.

Christine and her family were enjoying their favorite ride when, just 20 seconds in, she noticed her five-year-old son had passed out. Unable to wake him throughout the ride, Christine frantically pulled him out once it was over, screaming for help. Disney staff immediately sprang into action, guiding her to a hallway where she laid her son down and began performing CPR. Moments later, a cast member used an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to shock him.

At the same time, Christine’s husband ran for additional help and found an incredible couple—a nurse and an EMT—who continued performing CPR and kept the boy stable as he experienced seizures until EMT services arrived. Thanks to this quick and coordinated response, Christine’s son is alive today.

It was later discovered that the boy suffered from a previously unknown genetic heart condition, which triggered this terrifying incident. Christine credits the swift actions of Disney staff, the availability of AEDs, and the life-saving training of those around her for saving her son’s life. She expressed her immense gratitude, writing, “My son is alive because we were at Disney where there is an AED everywhere. My son is alive because of this couple. My son is alive because I was trained in CPR. Parents, PLEASE get trained if you aren’t.”

Christine is now on a mission to track down the couple who helped save her son, as well as the Disney cast member who performed the heroic actions that day. Disney is assisting in her search, but she hopes that by sharing her story, she can locate the couple and personally thank them.
